How Many Santas Can You Count

23 12 2008

i’ve been running some errands this morning and noticed that nearly every location i went to said that santa was coming. he wasn’t visiting once, but 3, 4, or 5 times in the course of the week. santa was making appearances at multiple locations throughout town, on numerous days, but often at the same time!

he’s scheduled at cub foods, best buy, the mall, fazoli’s and a couple other sites in town from about 4-8 tonight. amazing isn’t it? i guess it’s a good thing that kids don’t pick up on this sort of thing, or do they as they get older? at what age does a child realize that santa can’t really be at 3 places at the exact same time? how many santas are coming to visit in your town?

A Vacant Senate Seat

4 11 2008

barack obama was just projected as the president elect of the united states, which is really exciting, but comes at a cost to the state of illinois. as michelle and i sat here watching john mccain’s touching concession speech, we came to realize that as barack moves to dc, that means he’ll be leaving a senate seat open. unfortunately, that means that the power to appoint a new senator to represent our state is made by the governor.

i’m just not too excited about blagoj evich making that decision on our behalf. i need to dig into the process a bit more, but i’m really hoping that either the house or senate, or both, of the general assembly has to approve that appointment.

does anyone know how that works?
