Tonight I spent some time watching an older edition of America’s got talent and something threw me off. One of the hosts mentioned that the winner of the competition would have the title of the best new act in America.
I know that a tv series exists to make money, and they can’t demean themselves, but I was left wondering how many people heard that and believed it without questioning the statement.
What gives a tv show the right to proclaim someone as the best of anything? What about the hundreds of performers who didn’t think it was worth their time or energy to try out? Am I thinking about this too much? Just another random thought that popped into my head today.
PS. I find it inteiduing that there are actually people out there who read this thing, and even more who comment. What a fun little medium this bloggi g thing is.
