Twitter Client Search
19 01 2009i’ve been searching long and hard for a good twitter client. twitterific is ok, twhirl did a sufficient job. some others i’ve tried, but don’t remember, obviously didn’t really cut it. i’ve gone through a couple more recently…toro is an adobe air app that seems to do a nice job, though it doesn’t allow for direct messaging through the program. in a continued effort i just found and downloaded alert thingy. i like that it offers updates from digg, facebook, twitter and other social networking sites as well as news feeds such as numerous bbc feeds, cnn, espn, and over 20 additional news networks; a key feature is the ability to add any rss feed you want. still the same issue though: no ability to direct message anyone.
what are you using and what draws you to it?

Things Isn’t Worth $50
30 12 2008in fact, no program that tracks your gtd is worth $50. i can just as easily write things in my notebook for about $6. i like having something that syncs with the iphone though, and across multiple computers using mobile me. i ditched things this morning on all 3 of my macs and my iphone because i’m simply not willing to pay the $50 they decided to charge with their latest version.
that leaves me seeking a gtd app for mac os x 10.5 that is free…and that preferably syncs across computers and with the iphone. anyone got any thoughts?

Changing Things Up
3 12 2008in an effort to continually stuff my virtual techno-belly with more information that i can handle in the simplest, most convenient, yet fature-filled manner possible i’m doing some software rearranging.
ecto is the new blog editor of choice. i’m a big fan of being able to use tools while offline. while web-based means is usually very cool and effective, i want to be able to perform my tasks while offline too.
i was using net-news-wire on the mac for my blog reading, but found that i wasn’t reading blogs because it was one more program i had to have open and filling my 46″ of monitor. while that seems like it should be enough, with everything else this little beast runs, it simply isn’t…so, i’ve imported all my rss feeds into apple’s mail. it’s simple, it’s clean, and it’s one of the other programs that always open on my desktop, so why not make the most of it.
i’m quickly turning into a twitter junky. i understand if you don’t understand and that’s ok. it really is an amazing tool. some people love it, some people hate it, and some people don’t get it. rather than having every update come to my iphone or having to log into the twitter website to read others, i decided to try out a desktop reader. after following some reviews i’m trying tweetdeck. it’s free, it’s fairly simple, and it’s got a clean look so we’ll give it a shot for a week or so. you can follow me on twitter by texting “follow robw04″ to 40404 or by going to my twitter website.
